Tomorrow I'm going to meditate from 9:30 to 10 am. I've been reading too much Zen, too much Sufism and too much Taoism that I feel it's about time to drop the theory and see how I do on the practice. I'm certainly not planing to become a monk... I guess I just want to go ahead and try it... see if I can put my mind in blank and all that. I'll report back on how that goes...
Also I read of this Zen master, Ejo Takata, who would tell his disciples "when you perform a good action to tell about it, you lose everything you gained by doing it". But even then, he would always talk about all the stuff he did for others. It took me a while to understand that he didn't do it out of vanity... he simply wanted to be a good person without gaining anything by it.
